New Delhi, June 26 Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday blamed the Congress for offending voters of the nation by questioning the massive victory of the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls.
Answering to the debate on the Motion of Thaks to the President's address in the Rajya Sabha, Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress, saying by questioning the mamdate of the people, the opposition party has put voters in the dock.
"After such a major command, you state you (BJP) have won, yet the nation has lost....If the Congress loses, does the nation get vanquished. Does the Congress mean the nation and nation implies the Congress. There is a point of confinement of haughtiness," Modi said.
The prime minister said that by using such language the Congress has hurt voters of the nation.
Passing by the Congress gathering's contentions, he pondered whether triumph of the Congress in Wayanad and Rae Bareli situates too were "destruction of the nation".
"Due to narrow-mindedness and perversity of thoughts, if some people don't accept mandate of the people by saying that 'you may have won the race however the nation has lost', there can be nothing more offending for our popular government than this," he said.
Taking note of that the Congress was not ready to win even a solitary Lok Sabha situate in 17 states, he said it was the ideal opportunity for the Congress to introspect and "acknowledge rout".
The PM also hit out the Congress for questioning EVMs, which have been praised globally.
