Ramanathapuram (TN), Jul 23 A 65-year-old Pakistan national has been captured on charges including of drug- peddling, police said today.
The capture comes in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Rameswaram in the locale to introduce a dedication for former president late APJ Abdul Kalam on July 27.
Mohammed Yunus, from Karachi, was captured from a lodge in Ervadi, they said. Ervadi is famous for its hundreds of years old dargah in Ramanathapuram area.
When he was captured yesterday, he neither had an international ID nor a visa. He was conveying Pakistani Rupees 2,500 and Rs 3,000 in Indian currency, the police said.
During interrogation, it became exposed that he had come to Tamil Nadu wrongfully by a pontoon from Sri Lanka.
In the wake of flying out to a few spots, incorporating Pudukottai in Tamil Nadu purportedly looking for a stash substance, he had come to Ervadi, Q branch region police, which manages national security, said.
Two others from Ervadi, who had professedly guaranteed to get him the medication, have additionally been captured, they said.
The Pakistani national was created before an officer at his living arrangement in Paramakudi and was remanded to legal authority.
He is being taken to the Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai, which has a different cell to house foreigners.
