UIDAI: No cyber assault on Aadhaar biometric information

New Delhi, May 31 The core biometric information of Aadhar card holders has "till date" not faced any cyber attack, UIDAI has said in light of a RTI inquiry.

The Unique Identification Authority of India, be that as it may, declined to share the latest cyber security assessment of Aadhar information, referring to national security.

"The data can't be shared under segment 8(1)(a) of RTI Act as the information being National resource and sharing the frameworks set up can influence the security interest of the UIDAI and may prompt instigation of an offence and condition 7 of the Aadhar information security control," UIDAI said.

Reacting to a RTI question by looking to know the number of cyber attacks directed at the core biometric information of Aadhar clients, the office said there have been "nil" announced cases.

UIDAI by and by keeps up the information of around 114 crore Indians in more than 6,000 servers situated in Bengaluru and Manesar.

The Centre for Internet and Society (CIS) had guaranteed in a current report that Aadhaar numbers and individual data of around 135 million Indians may have been spilled from government entrances.

The report had said the nonappearance of "legitimate controls" in populating the databases could have tragic outcomes as it might disclose touchy data about people, including insights about address, photos and budgetary information.

The entrances where the indicated spills happened were those of National Social Assistance Program, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, and in addition two sites of the Andhra Pradesh government, it had said.
