BJP lashes out after Priyanka Gandhi Vadra compares PM Modi to Duryodhana

New Delhi, May 7 The Bharatiya Janata Party came out all guns blazing against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday after she compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Duryodhana from Hindu mythological text Mahabharata.

Speaking at a rally in Haryana prior in the day, Priyanka had blamed PM Modi for being self-important like Duryodhana and including that it is this that will bring about his downfall in Lok Sabha election 2019. She had also terminated salvos coordinated at PM Modi for calling her dfather - former PM Rajiv Gandhi - 'corrupt No. 1'.

The BJP swiftly countered the latest from Priyanka with party chief Amit Shah saying that the Congress' disappointment is for all to see. "Priyanka just called PM Modi 'Duryodhana'. Priyanka ji, this is democracy, nobody becomes 'Duryodhana' just because you called them so. The consequence of Lok Sabha election on May 23 will show a thing or two to Priyanka. No amount of insults from Congress can change the mind of Indian voters," he said at a rally in West Bengal's Bishnupur.

The war of words between BJP and Congress leaders have just heightened with each passing period of Lok Sabha election 2019. Just before the fifth stage on Monday, PM Modi had alluded to Rajiv Gandhi as corrupt which prompted a sharp censure from Congress. The party has even moved toward the Election Commission in regards to the statement in spite of the fact that party president Rahul Gandhi tweeted that he would deal with PM Modi's 'hatred' with 'love and hug.'

BJP too has been scathing and has highlighted every one of the insults that have been hurled at PM Modi by Rahul and other Congress leaders before.
