Pakistan PM Imran Khan pays tribute to Tipu Sultan on his death anniversary

Islamabad, May 5 Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has paid tribute to Tipu Sultan, praising the eighteenth century ruler of Mysore for preferring to die freedom rather than "live a life of enslavement".

Khan took to Twitter to express his admiration for the eighteenth century ruler of the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom also called the Tiger of Mysore.

"Today fourth May is the passing commemoration of Tipu Sultan - a man I appreciate in light of the fact that he favored opportunity and kicked the bucket battling for it rather than live a life of enslavement," Khan tweeted on Saturday.

It is not the first time Khan has praised Sultan's valour.

In February, the leader at a joint sitting of the Parliament assembled in the wake of the uplifted India-Pakistan pressures following the Pulwama terror assault praised Sultan's gallantry.

Sultan valiantly fought in the fourth Anglo-Mysore War but was killed in the attack of Srirangapatna after the French military guides instructed him to escape by means of mystery entries, however he broadly answered: "It is smarter to live one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep".

Sultan is popular in history for presenting various authoritative developments amid his standard, including his coinage and another land income framework which started the development of the Mysore's silk industry.

He is viewed as a pioneer in the utilization of rocket artillery.

Former President A P J Abdul Kalam in his Tipu Sultan Shaheed Memorial Lecture in Bangalore in 1991 called Sultan the innovator of the world's first war rocket.
