Wayanad (Ker), Apr 4 Congress president Rahul Gandhi, joined by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is here to file his nomination paper for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.
Rahul is contesting from the seat in Kerala in addition his traditional stronghold of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
He came to Wayanad Thursday morning in a helicopter from Kozhikode, where he was remaining at a guest house after arriving in Kerala on Wednesday.
The Congress chief and his sister were welcomed by a tremendous group here and he is planned to hold a roadshow before documenting his papers.
Rahul will also meet office bearers of the Congress and parties in the UDF later.
Tight security is in place in Wayanad region in perspective on the Gandhi siblings visit.
While leaving the guest house in Kozhikode, the Congress chief was welcomed by a huge crowd.
He halted his vehicle and ventured out to welcome gathering specialists, who were remaining there for a considerable length of time.
Three-year-old Zoya, who was among the people waiting to get a glimpse of the Gandhi siblings, was greeted by Rahul.
"We were holding up since 8 am. The previous evening also we held up so long, yet couldn't meet him. We are happy to the point that we could meet him," Zoya's mom told reporters.
Rahul also shook hands with some party workers before he moved on.
