Mumbai, Apr 18 Actor Vivek Oberoi said on Thursday that he is happy with the response of the Election Commission of India after a few of its officials viewed an uncommon screening of his film 'PM Narendra Modi.'
The Supreme Court had guided EC to watch the film and present its reaction on it in a fixed envelope. The exceptional screening had occurred on Wednesday. Addressing media people multi day later, Vivek - who is ahead of the pack job - said that he was happy with the reaction of those who watched the film. "Everyone in the EC saw the film yesterday. We asked them 'how could you like the film?' Can't disclose to you their reaction however we were content with their answer. Just solicitation is that the film should be allowed to release," he said.
The film - based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's life - ran into controversy it was alleged that its release was planned with the Lok Sabha election and could impact voters for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The film was slated to discharge on April 11 - the day of casting a ballot in the first phase of election, before EC chose to delay the release.
The filmmakers had moved toward the Supreme Court testing the EC request and a seat of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, and Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna requested that EC officials to watch the film and present a report to it. The next date of hearing in the case is on April 22.
