4 per cent DA climb for Bihar workers, pensioners

Patna, Apr 27 The Bihar Cabinet today expanded the dearness allowance (DA) of state government workers, pensioners and family retired people by four per cent.

They would now get an aggregate DA of 136 per cent rather than the current 132 per cent, cabinet secretariat department
Principal Secretary Brajesh Mehrotra said.

The DA would be given to the workers with impact from January 1 this year, Mehrotra told reporters here in a post cabinet briefing.

This would be appropriate to those workers and pensioners who are getting revised pay scale as per the Sixth Pay Commission's proposals, the Principal Secretary said.

The modification of DA would have an extra weight of Rs 561.30 crore on the state exchequer annually, he said.

For a minuscule number of employees, pensioners and family retired people who are getting salary or pension as per Fifth Pay Commission's proposals, the cabinet expanded their DA by 11 per cent, he said.

The Cabinet additionally improved the corpus of Bihar Contingency Fund from Rs 350 crore to Rs 6403.42 crore for the period finishing March 2018, Mehrotra said.

The choice to upgrade the possibility support has been taken in reckoning of offering alleviation to individuals influenced by regular calamities and meeting other sudden consumption, he said.
