Madras HC instructs govt. not to open alcohol looks for three months

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Apr 25: The Madras High Court on Tuesday requested the Tamil Nadu Government to not open any Tasmac alcohol looks for the following three months after Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (DMK) supplication on government's endeavor to bypass the Supreme Court's request.

The DMK had before documented an interest against the request of Tamil Nadu Government to change over the national and state thruways into locale and enterprise parkways keeping in mind the end goal to open the Tasmac alcohol shops back dodging the decision of the zenith court.

The DMK and others yesterday moved toward the Madras High Court to slow down any endeavor by the state government to get around the Supreme Court's request in regards to the restriction marked down of liquor inside 500 meters of the expressway.

On March 31, the pinnacle court had decided that alcohol shops inside 500 meters of national and state roadways would need to close down from April 1.

The top court has just exempted the conditions of Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Sikkim and spots with populaces under 20,000.

These states can have shops offering alcohol inside 220 meters of thruways.
