ECP extended the polling time of Pakistan elections

Islamabad, June 29 The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday extended the polling time for the forthcoming general elections by an hour to guarantee greater participation interest of voters in the polling process.

The polling will now initiate at 8am and end at 6pm rather than the typical 5pm, the Dawn revealed, refering to ECP, as saying in an announcement.

Lalu Prasad's provisional bail extended by six weeks

Ranchi, June 29 The Ranchi High Court on Friday extended former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad's provisional bail for another six weeks.

The provisional bail, which was prior conceded by the court to Prasad on medicinal grounds, was set to lapse on July 3.

New Delhi, Jun 29 A Mobile application for tracking missing and abandoned children was launched by Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu and Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi here today.

5 dead as plane crashes in Mumbai

Mumbai, June 28 Five people were killed when an aircraft on a test flight crashed in a crowded Mumbai suburb this afternoon, police said.

Those killed include two pilots and the same number of flight engineers on board, besides a pedestrian in the Ghatkopar area where it crashed, police said.

The King Air C90 12-seater aircraft, which took off from the Juhu airstrip, crashed in the Jagruti Nagar area of Ghatkopar, police said.

A group of officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) raced to the crash site for an examination, an authority said.

The police, fire brigade and disaster management groups rushed to the spot. Bodies of those killed were taken to the nearby Rajawadi hospital in Ghatkopar, an authority said.

A fire brigade official stated, "Our control room got a call at 1.15 pm educating a plane crash. Our jawans were immediately rushed at the site to launch the rescue operation.

Four fire engines and as many water tankers were rushed to douse the fire that happened after the plane crashed."

The police cordoned off the area, an authority said.

However, in its notice, the I-T department has reconsidered the income and determined it to actually amount to Rs 42.98 crore, implying that only about 0.86 percent of the income was declared.

Accordingly, tax payable on this revised income has been resolved to be Rs 25.8 crore, the report stated.

Army Chief Bipin Rawat: Some reports on Kashmir could be motivated

Sushma Swaraj: Now no marriage certificate required at passport offices

New Delhi, June 26 External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday declared that marriage endorsements will no more be required at the passport offices.

The EAM further also announced that divorced women will never again be required to fill the name of their
ex-husband and their children of their estranged father.

Addressing the officials of several Passport Seva Kendras and members from the Ministry of External Affairs on the event of Passport Seva Diwas, she stated, "Wedded people whined that their marriage declarations are required at travel permit office, we rejected the run the show."

"Some divorced women complained that they are required to fill the name of ex and their offspring of their offended dad. So we changed the administer," she included.

The decision comes days after an interfaith couple, including a Muslim spouse and a Hindu wife, purportedly confronted issue at Lucknow Passport Seva Kendra.

Meanwhile, Swaraj additionally propelled a Passport Seva application for consistent application and issue of passports.

BJP: Emergency was imposed to save Indira Gandhi

New Delhi June 26 Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday said that Emergency was imposed to save the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and was planned six-months in advance.

"The country witnessed a phase of cruelty at the season of Emergency in 1975 to spare the then Prime Minister of the nation, Indira Gandhi. It was pre-arranged a half year before the inconvenience," said Prasad.

Narendra Modi targets Congress, Gandhis' "selfish personal interests" for Emergency

Mumbai, Jun 26 Slamming Congress and the Gandhi family on the 43rd anniversary of imposition of Emergency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India was "turned into a jail for the selfish personal interests" of that family.

Addressing a meeting organised by the BJP to mark the Emergency anniversary, Modi said the day should be seen to re-devote oneself to security of the Constitution and democracy.

"Emergency is a black spot on the golden history of the country. Watching black day today isn't simply to scrutinize the Congress for its wrongdoing of forcing Emergency yet in addition to make a mindfulness for insurance of Constitution and majority rule government," Modi said.

Lashing out at Congress for "spreading illusionary dread" about the Constitution, Dalits and minorities confronting threat (in the BJP-drove administration), Modi said Congress can never move forward. "For advancement of self intrigue, they devastated their own party," he said.

" For selfish interests, Congress turned the nation into a correctional facility by detaining resistance pioneers. For them, the nation and majority rules system have no esteem. He also criticized the Congress for moving a denunciation movement against the Supreme Court chief justice.

Modi also paid tributes to Ramnath Goenka of the Indian Express, Kuldeep Nayar and the Statesman daily paper for "standing up" against Emergency.

"A considerable lot of them were not our supporters either. Nayar is critical of us. But they fought for democracy," Modi said.

United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley to visit India today

Washington June 26 United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley will start her three-day visit to India on Tuesday.

The 46-year-old diplomat, who is the highest ranking Indian-American in US President Donald Trump's organization, will meet senior Indian Government officials, NGO leaders among others and talk about a large group of subjects including India-US vital ties and significant global developments.
