Mumbai, Jun 26 Slamming Congress and the Gandhi family on the 43rd anniversary of imposition of Emergency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India was "turned into a jail for the selfish personal interests" of that family.
Addressing a meeting organised by the BJP to mark the Emergency anniversary, Modi said the day should be seen to re-devote oneself to security of the Constitution and democracy.
"Emergency is a black spot on the golden history of the country. Watching black day today isn't simply to scrutinize the Congress for its wrongdoing of forcing Emergency yet in addition to make a mindfulness for insurance of Constitution and majority rule government," Modi said.
Lashing out at Congress for "spreading illusionary dread" about the Constitution, Dalits and minorities confronting threat (in the BJP-drove administration), Modi said Congress can never move forward. "For advancement of self intrigue, they devastated their own party," he said.
" For selfish interests, Congress turned the nation into a correctional facility by detaining resistance pioneers. For them, the nation and majority rules system have no esteem. Rather than (Indira Gandhi) stopping as PM after the court decision, Emergency was forced. In what capacity can these people discuss shielding the Constitution," he said.
"When Kishore Kumar ji declined to sing for them (Congress), his melodies were not permitted to be played on the radio," Modi said.
Modi blamed the Congress for scrutinizing EVMs and the functioning of the Election Commission after they were lessened to 44 seats from 400 in Lok Sabha. "They didn't scrutinize the EVMs after the ongoing Karnataka decisions," he included.
He also criticized the Congress for moving a denunciation movement against the Supreme Court chief justice.
"They (Gandhi family) never imagined that they can confront defilement accusations and be out on safeguard. Thus, the Congress chose to move arraignment movement against the central equity," Modi said.
Modi said his Government was focused on securing Constitution and maintaining law based qualities. "The Constitution isn't only a book however a way to satisfy goals and wishes of the common man," he said.
Modi also paid tributes to Ramnath Goenka of the Indian Express, Kuldeep Nayar and the Statesman daily paper for "standing up" against Emergency.
"A considerable lot of them were not our supporters either. Nayar is critical of us. But they fought for democracy," Modi said.
