Islamabad, June 29 The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday extended the polling time for the forthcoming general elections by an hour to guarantee greater participation interest of voters in the polling process.
The polling will now initiate at 8am and end at 6pm rather than the typical 5pm, the Dawn revealed, refering to ECP, as saying in an announcement.
Pakistan is slated to hold general races on July 25.
The move comes scarcely days after Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf's request of extending polling hours by three hours.
As per the report, the ECP had then disposed of the plea citing that "the timings were appointed by the law and there was no need for them to be extended."
