I've become poster boy of bank default: Vijay Mallya

New Delhi, Jun 26 Fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya today said he has turned into the "Poster Boy" of bank default and a lightning pole of open outrage, and there's nothing he could do "if politically persuaded superfluous elements meddle" with his endeavors to settle the duty.

Speaking after "two years of silence" over the contention surrounding him in the over Rs 9,000-crore Kingfisher Airlines loan default case, Mallya denied that he was a wilful defaulter.

Tired of "relentless pursuit" of him by "the government and its criminal offices", Mallya said he had even written letters to both the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister on April 15, 2016 to clarify his side of the story.

"No response was received from both of them," he said in a statement issued, looking to state 'factual position' in light of the debate encompassing him.

Mallya, who also made public the letters he had kept written to the PM and the Finance Minister, said he has been blamed by legislators and the media alike of having stolen and fled with Rs 9,000 crore that was credited to Kingfisher Airlines (KFA).

"Some of the loaning banks have also marked me a wilful defaulter," he included.

He asserted that he made two settlement offers to the banks when procedures were filed by them in the Supreme Court on March 29, 2016 and April 6, 2016 yet both the offers were dismissed by the banks.

"I respectfully submit that my conduct does not amount to 'wilful default'," Mallya said.

As of now, experiencing a removal preliminary in a UK court over extortion and illegal tax avoidance charges by Indian specialists, the alcohol noble said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) have recorded charge sheets against him "with different untenable and obtrusively false affirmations acting at the command of the legislature and loaning banks".

"The ED have also joined resources having a place with me, my gathering organizations and organizations possessed and additionally controlled by my family under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) at present esteemed at around Rs 13,900 crore," he included.

Citing reports of ED objecting to public sector banks' claim to the proceeds arising from the offer of his benefits, Mallya stated, "...this is an unmistakable case of politically inspired manhandle of intensity with no lawful premise at all and becomes the central inquiry of whether the administration needs me to reimburse people in general segment banks or not".

Regretting that every one of his "endeavors are either disregarded or misjudged", he said,"I am sick of this determined quest for me by the administration and its criminal offices".

Insisting that he had made and "keep on making each exertion, in accordance with some basic honesty to settle with people in general segment banks," Mallya stated, "If politically roused unessential variables meddle, there is no other option for me".

In summary, Mallya, who fled to the UK in March 2016, added,"I have turned into the 'Publication Boy' of Bank default and a lightning bar of public anger".
