Chennai, Nov 1 The ruling AIADMK Thursday flayed rebel leader T V Dhinakaran for saying it would "struggle" to secure deposit in the bypolls to 20 Assembly seats, including those of the 18 precluded party MLAs, and said those in the adversary camp were in a "confused state of mind."
It said Dhinakaran's statement showed how much the family of deposed AIADMK leader V K Sasikala, including Dhinakaran, was "against" previous Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
On Wednesday, Dhinakaran had said in Madurai that the 18 disqualified MLAs won't request against the Madras High Court decision maintaining their disqualification, as decided by them originally, and face the elections, seen as a U-turn by his critics.
AIADMK scorned Dhinakaran for his volte-confront and said the excluded MLAs were in a "confounded perspective."
"They have maybe ruled against engaging since obviously they probably won't win the case in the Supreme Court.
Two judges (of the Madras High Court) had maintained the exclusion," party representative R M Babu Murugavel, likewise a supporter, told PTI.
Dhinakaran had oozed certainty that his Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) will trump the AIADMK in the bypolls.
"We are not going for an interest. We will be facing the polls... AMMK will secure a grand victory in each of the 20 seats and AIADMK needs to battle to try and secure store," he had said.
While the 18 segments have fallen empty after the exclusion procedure, two different seats- - Thiruvarur and Thirupparankundram, are also empty because of the demise of the separate MLAs, at that point DMK boss M Karunanidhi, and AK Bose of the AIADMK.
Opposition parties, including DMK, have requested that bypolls ought to be quickly held for each of the 20 seats.
Prior, after the October 25 High Court arrange maintaining their preclusion by Speaker P Dhanapal a year ago, the MLAs had chosen to move the peak court, in the wake of holding counsels with Dhinakaran in Madurai.
The Madras High Court had maintained the June 14 request of the then chief justice disqualifying them.
Justice M Sathyanarayanan had heard the pleas of the rival parties after a bench of then Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar gave a split verdict on June 14.
On Thursday, Murugavel protested Dhinakaran's comments that AIADMK would 'battle' to secure store in the 20 seats if bypolls were held there.
"When he himself says that AIADMK will lose store, it indicates the amount they (Sasikala's family) were against the gathering and Amma," he said.
Jayalalithaa is tended to as Amma by party supporters.
To a question, he said his gathering was set up to confront the surveys whenever.
This was clear from the way that it had as of late named election in-charge for every one of the 20 seats, including AIADMK coordinator and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam, for the respective segments.
Murugavel expressed confidence that the ruling party would rise successful in each of the 20 seats, if the elections were to be held "even tomorrow.
