Lucknow, Nov 9 The Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party on Friday tried to corner the BJP over the demonetisation issue, naming it a disappointment and requested an expression of remorse from the decision party.
"They (BJP) had looked for 50 days, however now two years have passed after demonetisation... People are as yet anticipating an answer that aside from running business and expanding joblessness, what advantage has it given? On the off chance that the administration thinks of it as a win, it should tell (people) in whose pocket the benefit went," SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said.
BSP supremo Mayawati, too, slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party for the decision. "Following two years of demonetisation, any of the destinations as guaranteed by the BJP were not met. The BJP should offer a statement of regret for the move. The BJP government at the Centre will be recognized as an administration of disappointments in which none of the guarantees made to the people were satisfied," she said in a statement.
Describing the move as an "economic emergency", the Dalit pioneer said disdain was fermenting among the general population as the BJP, which guaranteed to bring back dark cash and guarantee "acche racket" (great days), stands uncovered.
"While demonetisation crushed the back of poor people, it helped the BJP men make their black money white by depositing them in banks.
"Whatever facts and data available state that due to the immature decision taken in haste, nothing could be achieved except aggravating problems of the people," Mayawati said.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister included that the saffron gathering ought to keep away from "showdown" with protected and self-governing bodies as it was not in the interest of the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8, 2016, had reported a ban on the then-being used Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination notes with immediate effect.
The BJP-led government had defended the move, saying it was important to wipe out illegal money stashed away abroad.
