Farmers from across India joining in Delhi for Kisan March

New Delhi, Nov 29 Thousands of farmers from the nation over began to join in Delhi on Thursday for a two-day challenge rally to press for their requests, including debt relief and remunerative prices for their produce.

Farmers, from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and different states, will walk on four different routes in the national capital, beginning at three noteworthy railroad stations Anand Vihar, Nizamuddin and Bijwasan and at Sabzi Mandi, their leaders said.

Every one of the marchers will pour in at Ramlila Ground in the core of the city before supper.

Farmers from Delhi, Punjab and Haryana began trickling in by 10:30 am.

Kamla, a functionary of the All India Kisan Sabha's Delhi unit, said ranchers have likewise touched base at Majnu Ka Tila, from where they will start marching in groups to Ramlila Maidan.

"We trust by 3 pm, farmers from the nation over will touch base at Ramlila Ground," said AIKS.

The two-day rally will be "one of the biggest congregations of farmers" in Delhi, the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) guaranteed on Wednesday.

The AIKSCC, which claims to be an umbrella body of 207 associations of farmers and rural laborers, said a cultural program would be held at Ramlila Ground on Thursday, the primary day of the protest, where prominent singers and poets from rural India would perform.

Police said they have made expand game plans for the rally on Friday, when the farmers will start their walk from Ramlila Ground to Parliament Street.

Support for farmers have begun pouring with activists taking to Twitter to request that the general public join the walk.

"Ladies farmers welcome us early today from Brijwasan as they are good to go to set out on #KisanMuktiMarch. Go along with us regardless of whether you are not an agriculturist. Join the hands that work to nourish us. Jai Kisan!," tweeted political extremist Yogendra Yadav.

Lawyer Prashant Bhushan also tweeted in solidarity with farmers.

"Over 3L farmers have submitted suicide in India in last 15 yrs,due to progressive govts selling out them. Tomorrow 1 lakh farmers from the nation over are marching to Delhi to request reasonable prices& freedom from debt. Let's stand in solidarity with them," he said.
