New Delhi, Jan 23 The Delhi Police has registered a case dependent on a complaint filed by the Election Commission regarding allegations of hacking of EVMs and rigging of polls levelled without anyone else's input announced digital master Syed Shuja, authorities said Wednesday.
"Based on a complaint received from the Election Commission, a FIR has been enrolled under Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code (expectation to cause dread or opublic mischief) at Parliament Street police headquarters. Move will be made according to the law," a senior police officer said.
The officer said that as Section 505 is non-cognisable, police have looked for consent from court to start an examination.
He also proposed that the case be examined by a specific office as it requires an inside and out examination and use of cyber tools.
On Tuesday, the survey board had documented an objection with the Delhi Police, requesting that it enroll a FIR against Syed Shuja, who amid a question and answer session in London on Monday, asserted that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) can be hacked, and the 2014 Lok Sabha elections were fixed.
In its protest, the poll board had asked police to investigate the matter "promptly" for violation of certain IPC sections dealing with spreading rumour to "create fear" in the minds of people.
