Rahul Gandhi stretches support to Mamata's Banerjee mega opposition rally in Kolkata on Saturday

New Delhi, Jan 18 Congress president Rahul Gandhi stretched out his help to Mamata Banerjee on Friday for her "show of solidarity" in Kolkata on January 19 and trusted that it would send an amazing message of a united India.

Gandhi is probably going to skirt Mamata's rally and the Congress has deputed its pioneer in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, to speak to the Grand Old Party at the event.

In a letter to Banerjee, the Congress chief commended the "great people" of Bengal, who had "historically been at the front line of defending our ideals".

"I extend my support to Mamata Di on this show of solidarity and expectation that we send a ground-breaking message of an assembled India together," Gandhi wrote in the letter.

In a Facebook post, he stated, "The whole resistance is joined in our conviction that genuine patriotism and improvement must be protected on the tried mainstays of majority rule government, social equity and secularism, thoughts that the BJP and Mr Modi are intent on destroying."

In his letter to Banerjee just as in the post on the social networking stage, Gandhi said there were amazing powers that were fanned by the annoyance and dissatisfaction of a huge number of Indians, who had seen through the "false guarantees and lies peddled by the Modi government".

"These forces are moved by the hope of another tomorrow; a tomorrow loaded up with the possibility of an India in which the voice of each man, lady and tyke will be heard and regarded regardless of what their religion, monetary status or district is," he said.

A large group of Opposition leaders are probably going to go to the Trinamool Congress supremo's rally in Kolkata on Saturday, which is being anticipated as her "show of resistance quality" in front of the Lok Sabha polls.
