State leader says, Congress ready to go it alone in UP

Lucknow, Jan 11 The Congress is prepared to go only it in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections, a senior state leader said on Friday as hypothesis around a SP-BSP situate sharing collusion spiraled with the two parties declaring a joint press conference of their chiefs

His comments came as the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party declared that their leaders, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati, would together address a press conference on Saturday, signalling a 'gathbandhan' excluding the Congress.

"We are a political gathering and are prepared to battle the coming elections alone in Uttar Pradesh," Bakshi told.

"Only we have 45 seats in the Lok Sabha and it is any day a lot more than the local players... a 'mahagathbandhan' in the Lok Sabha elections should be worked around the party having a national face," Bakshi stated,

"We are ready to take along like minded parties and they can meet up with us," he said.

Talking about the Congress' poll readiness, Bakshi said the party has an association and is preparing for an election.

"Where there are glitches, we are patching up it. We will be good to go for the polls soon," he included.

Another senior chief included that discussion a 'mahagathbandhan' had been continuing for some time yet Congress members in the state were of the assessment that the party should it go alone as it has a free character among the people.

"A decision on who to join hands with always rests with the party high command, however we will notify them that specialists and supporters need the Congress to go alone in Uttar Pradesh where despite everything it has its own character which is not quite the same as these partied," he said.

Party leaders here said the Central leadership did not respond to the statements of Akhilesh Yadav or Mayawati amid the ongoing Assembly elections in five states, clarifying that it may like to go only it.

They additionally said party president Rahul Gandhi had clarified that the Congress can't be thought little of.

In a meeting to Gulf News in front of his visit to UAE on January 11, Gandhi said the Congress thought is incredible in Uttar Pradesh. "Along these lines, we are extremely certain of our capacity in Uttar Pradesh and we will amaze individuals," he was quoted as saying.

Gandhi's remarks were the first indication of the party's plan B after the regional players appeared to have deserted it.
