Congress leads in close battle with BJP in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Dec 11 A resurgent Congress in Madhya Pradesh was Tuesday driving over the ruling BJP by a slender margin, according to patterns accessible in all the 230 Assembly seats.

The Opposition Congress was leading in 110 seats, a far improved performance over the 58 seats it has in the active House, while BJP was ahead in 108 constituencies.

Boss Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was driving in Budhni situate over his closest Congress match by an edge of 19,293 votes.

State Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia was driving in Shivpuri seat by an edge of 10,780 votes.

Women and Child Development Minister Archana Chitnis was driving in Burhanpur, while Agriculture Minister Gaurishankar Chaturbhuj Bisen was ahead in Balaghat.

Revenue Minister Umashankar Gupta was driving in Bhopal South West seat by a slender margin of 249 votes.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was driving in five seats while the Gondvana Gantantra Party was ahead in two seats.

Independents were leading in three seats while the Samajwadi Party seat and the Bahujan Sanghrush Dal were leading in one seat each.

In the outgoing Assembly, the party-wise position was: BJP-165, Congress-58, BSP-four and Independents-three.
