Ram Vilas Paswan talks with Arun Jaitley

New Delhi, Dec 21 LJP President Ram Vilas Paswan Friday met BJP leader Arun Jaitley in the midst of signs that the two gatherings may before long land at a seat-sharing understanding in Bihar for the Lok Sabha polls.

Paswan's child Chirag, who hosts been vocal in airing his party's disparities with the BJP, told columnists that discussions were on and guaranteed there were different issues other than sharing of seats.

Another Lok Janshakti Party leader, who talked on the condition of anonymity, said that discussions have been positive and they were confident of an early arrangement.

"In the event that all goes well, we will challenge six of the 40 Lok Sabha seat in Bihar," he said.

There is speculation that the regional party has also sought a Rajya Sabha berth.

If the LJP is given six seats, the same number of as it had won in 2014, at that point the BJP and its another partner Janata Dal (United), which is going by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will challenge 17 seats each.

BJP president Amit Shah had before reported that his party and the JD(U) will challenge break even with number of seats in the politically essential state where the BJP-drove NDA had won 31 seat in 2014.

The arrangement of Jaitley, an old Bihar turn in the gathering with well disposed relations with pioneers of various gatherings, by the BJP to purchase ceasefire with the LJP underscores the significance the saffron party has connected to proceeding with its alliance with Paswan's party, which enjoys strong impact among Dalits.

Top BJP leaders, including its president Amit Shah and Jaitley, had held 60 minutes in length meeting with LJP boss Ram Vilas Paswan and his son Thursday to resolved their differences.

Chirag Paswan had before written a letter to Jaitley requesting that he clarify what benefits demonetisation brought to the nation.

He had also tweeted that a postponement in seat-sharing announcement may harm the ruling alliance.
