Imran Khan admits 2008 Mumbai attacks were led by Pak-based LeT

New Delhi, Dec 8 Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan admitted to international media that banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba, driven by Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, was behind the November 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Recognizing that the attacks were "a demonstration of terrorism", Khan said he's asked his government discover the status of the case.

During an interview to American day by day The Washinton Post, writer Lally Weymouth asked Khan, "India truly needs to see the culprits of the 2008 Mumbai shelling indicted. The brains, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, a leader of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, was released on bail in Pakistan while a nine-year preliminary has delayed for six other suspects, with no results.”

To this Khan responded, "We also need something done about the bombers of Mumbai. I have asked our government to find out the status of the case. Settling that case is in our interest because it was an act of terrorism.”

Referring to the recently opened Kartarpur corridor, the cricketer-turned-politician included, "I have opened a visa-free peace corridor with India called Kartarpur so that Indian Sikhs can visit a sacred sanctum in Pakistan. We should trust that after the election is finished, we can again continue chats with India."

Reacting to Khan's comment, Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat stated, "We realize who did it. I don't think we need to get any longer articulation from anyone. Universal people group realizes who did it. Acceptance is good but even without it, we knew who had done it.”

In the midst of developing requests from the Trump organization to accomplish more to combat terrorism emanating from its dirt, Khan said he would not allow Pakistan to be treated like a "hired gun" to fight someone else's war.

The ties among Washington and Islamabad stressed, particularly after President Donald Trump, while declaring his Afghanistan and South Asia strategy in August a year ago, hit out at Pakistan for giving places of refuge to "agents of chaos" that kill Americans in Afghanistan.

In May this year, previous Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif had conceded that Pakistan-based dread outfits were in charge of 2008 Mumbai blasts.

Speaking in an interview to Pakistan media Dawn, Sharif stated, "Militant organisations are dynamic. Call them non-state performing artists, would it be a good idea for us to enable them to cross-fringe and murder 150 people in Mumbai? For what reason wouldn't we be able to finish preliminary?"

As many as 10 heavily-armed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists constrained their way into the city of Mumbai on November 26, 2008 and completed facilitated shooting and shelling. The assault on the financial capital of India lasted until November 29.
