Nirmala Sitharaman: India see US as an important defence partner

Washington, Dec 4 Commencing her five-day official visit to the United States, Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Monday declared that New Delhi sees the US as an important partner in the field of defence.

In her comments toward the beginning of her respective chats with the US Defense Secretary James Mattis at the Pentagon, Sitharaman said common trust and trust and confidence in defence partnership between the two countries were growing.

The defence minister included that she was empowered by the importance attached to the India-US defence relationship in the upgraded US National Security Strategy.

"A strong foundation has been laid for the India-US barrier relationship throughout the years. India sees the US as an imperative accomplice in barrier," Sitharaman stated, including that the two nations have great military to military participation, protection interviews, logical joint efforts and co-creation and co-advancement and industry collaboration.

Exuding confidence that the bilateral talks would accord greater momentum to the dialogue and partnership between the two nations, she said the relationship continued to be very strong.

The ongoing gatherings between the two nations, Sitharaman stated, have underscored their shared want to move decidedly. Sitharaman valued the responsiveness of the Trump Administration to India's sensitivities.
