Jaipur, Dec 7 Over 20 percent of over 4.74 crore voters exercised their establishment in the first three hours of polling in Rajasthan Friday in the midst of reports of EVMs breaking down at some polling booths
The polling started at 8 am and the casting a ballot turn out was 20.9 percent at 11 am, poll officials said.
There were reports of some EVMs not working which postponed casting a ballot at a couple polling booths. Be that as it may, further subtleties are anticipated.
Upwards of 51,687 polling booths have been set up in 199 out of the aggregate 200 assembly constituencies where polling is going ahead in the midst of tight security.
A senior police officer said polling was taking place peacefully and elaborate security arrangements are in place.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sachin Pilot and different pioneers were those who exercised their franchise.
Raje (Jhalrapatan), Pilot (Tonk), former chief minister Ashok Gehlot (Sardarpura) are among the 2,274 candidates in the shred.
The election in Ramgarh body electorate of Alwar region was put off after the passing of Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Laxman Singh.
The results will be out on December 11, alongside those from the other four states which saw Assembly elections in the past couple of weeks.
Raje, who is the BJP's chief clerical hopeful, is battling against veteran BJP pioneer Jaswant Singh's child Manvendra Singh in Jhalrapatan, the constituency she has spoken to since 2003.
Manvendra Singh switched to the Congress just before the race, making the battle harder for Raje this time. She had won 63 percent of the votes cast in 2013, winning the seat by an edge of 60,896.
Tonk, with a sizeable Muslim populace, is a distinctly watched challenge between Sachin Pilot and BJP candidate and Rajasthan Transport Minister Yoonus Khan, who is the saffron gathering's solitary Muslim face in the elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had at first handled sitting MLA Ajit Singh Mehta in Tonk. Be that as it may, in a difference in technique, the gathering dropped him and sent Khan to go up against Pilot.
This is a maiden assembly election for Pilot, a two-time MP who is viewed as a boss pastoral plausibility if the Congress wins. He has spoken to Dausa and Ajmer Lok Sabha constituencies in the past.
In around 130 constituencies, the contest appears to be mainly between the BJP and the Congress.
In the current House, the BJP has 160 seats and the Congress 25.
