C S Karnan looks for remission of jail term from new President

Kolkata, Jul 25 Former Calcutta High Court judge C S Karnan today made a representation before recently sworn-in President Ram Nath Kovind looking for abatement of the six-month jail term granted to him by the Supreme Court.

The dubious former judge made the portrayal through his direction Mathews J Nedumpara.

"A representation looking for remission of the six-month jail term granted to Justice(retd) Karnan was displayed to the President's office today," Nedumpara told.

"We will be looking for a crowd of people with the President in such manner as quickly as time permits," he stated, including "We are in contact with the President's office."

The portrayal was made under the Article 72 of the Constitution.

Karnan sidestepped capture after the six-month imprison term was forced on him on May 9 by a seven-judge seat of the Supreme Court.

He was captured from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu on June 20 and is by and by stopped in the Presidency Correctional Home here.

He became the first sitting high court judge in the historical backdrop of the Indian legal to be awarded a jail term by the apex court.
