Curfew in Shopian, limitations in parts of Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 13 Authorities today forced Curfew in Shopian town and limitations in many other parts of Kashmir to keep up peace as a strike called by separatists disturbed normal life in the Valley.

Curfew has been forced in Shopian town of south Kashmir as a careful step to keep up lawfulness, a police official said.

He said checks on the movement of people have been forced in seven police station regions of Srinagar.

Comparative controls have additionally been forced in Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam regions and remaining parts of Shopian area also.

Confinements on the assembly of people have been forced in Sopore and Handwara townships in north Kashmir, the authority said, including overwhelming arrangement of security strengths has been made in whatever is left of the Valley.

He said these measures were taken to keep any untoward occurrence in perspective of the strike called by separatists to stamp the demise commemoration of 21 people who were killed in terminating by the Dogra Army on this day in 1931.

In the mean time, the majority of the shops, fuel stations and different business foundations were closed crosswise over Kashmir, while public transport was sparse.

Mobile Internet stayed suspended over the Valley, yet BSNL's broadband services were working.

While government offices and banks were shut because of an occasion today, educational institutions remained shut on account of summer vacations.
