Bring real estate under GST: Sisodia keeps in touch with Arun Jaitley

New Delhi, Oct 15 Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today kept in touch with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, requesting that the real estate sector be brought under the ambit of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

In a letter to Jaitley, Sisodia said if land goes under the new backhanded assessment administration, over the top climb in arrive costs could be checked and the stream of black money curbed.

Sisodia, who additionally holds the back portfolio, said he had no wavering in expressing that "remarkable political self discipline will be required for making this step".

The minister has requested that the matter of bringing the land segment under the GST administration be incorporated into the motivation for the following GST Council meeting to be held at Guwahati on November 9.

"My view is that if GST is implemented in all steps involved in development of real estate, at that point each recorded exchange will prompt duty input credit and excessive climb in land costs will be checked, whole chain will stay in place and stream of dark cash in land could be controlled," Sisodia said in the letter.

He trusted that the GST Council was in a position to accept an approach the real estate sector in its next meeting.

Since the execution of GST in July, the Delhi vice president serve has been requesting that land be brought under it.
