Congress requests CBI test into Jay Shah push

Panaji, Oct 12 The Congress today demanded an inquiry by the CBI into a media report asserting that the turnover of a firm of BJP president Amit Shah's son Jay developed complex after the saffron party came to control in 2014.

The charge has been dismissed by the BJP and Jay Shah, who named the report as "false, derogatory and defamatory".

Congress representative Priyanka Chaturvedi stated, "I think about whether the prime minister can disclose to us this model of getting Rs 15 crore advance for our businesses. He needs to let us know."

She charged that agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Income Tax office and Enforcement Directorate were being utilized to hush the resistance after the BJP-drove government expected office.

"These (agencies) have turned into a tool to quiet the voices, and, for the CBI to work freely this is a vital case," she told a press meet.

Chaturvedi said that the BJP at first had concocted the contention that Jay Shah is an individual businessman and he is doing his business and, subsequently, nobody can target him.

"Be that as it may, we had a Union minister coming in help of Jay Shah and giving him a clean chit," she said.

She charged that the Narendra Modi government is attempting to secure Jay Shah, who is only an individual businessman.

Chaturvedi looked to know whether it isn't an instance of "irreconcilable situation" that Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who should guard the Union of India, is shielding Jay Shah.

"Two days before the report turned out, he connected for leave to battle this case," she asserted, and solicited, "Isn't this a conflict of interest?"

Union minister Piyush Goyal had before said in New Delhi that Mehta will speak to Jay Shah in the case.

He said Mehta had looked for Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad's consent to show up for the BJP chief's son and the approval was conceded.

News portal The Wire as of late guaranteed that the turnover of Jay Shah's firm became exponentially after the gathering came to control at the Centre.
