Yashwant Sinha on Jay Shah scene: BJP has lost its high moral ground

Patna, Oct 11 BJP veteran Yashwant Sinha today reprimanded his party's strong protection of its leader Amit Shah's son, saying the high moral ground it had obtained every one of these years seems to have been lost.

The former finance minister, who has turned a solid faultfinder of the Modi government's economic policies, also questioned the documenting of a Rs 100 crore criticism suit against The Wire, which conveyed a story on Jay Shah's business.

Such an endeavor to stifle the voice of the media was avoidable, he told reporters here.

"I will absolutely get a kick out of the chance to state that the way in which a central minister hopped into fray in defence of Jay Shah was not called for. He is a central minister not a sanctioned bookkeeper of Jay Shah," Sinha stated, in an obvious reference to Union minister Piyush Goyal's defence of Amit Shah's child.

He likewise communicated his reservations over the "extremely exceptional conditions" under which Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was cleared to battle Jay Shah's maligning body of evidence against The Wire.

"Maybe, the high moral ground we have obtained every one of these months and years seems to have been lost," Sinha said.

He, nonetheless, demanded that he would not like to remark on the value of the story, which said that there was an immense ascent in the turnover of Jay Shah's organization after the BJP came to control in 2014.

It involves request and examination, and any government agency can do it, Sinha said.

The BJP has blamed Sinha for having a connection with the opposition Congress.
