PM Narendra Modi welcomes the world for India's first FIFA competition

New Delhi, Oct 6 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday respected all the participating countries and wished them fortunes for the U-17 World Cup, India's first since forever FIFA tournament.

The World Cup begins on Friday with matches in Delhi and Mumbai.

"A warm welcome and all the best to all teams taking part in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. I am certain the World Cup will be a treat for football lovers," the Prime Minister said.

Modi will be a piece of the World Cup's opening day procedures, which will incorporate a little function at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The competition will be played in six cities - New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Kochi and Margao.

Modi will be joined by FIFA General Secretary Fatma Samoura and Head of FIFA competitions Jaime Yarza on the inaugural day.

Indian football greats I.M. Vijayan, Bhaichung Bhutia and current national group commander Sunil Chhetri are additionally prone to be a piece of the recorded minute.
