Mughalsarai Railway Station renamed after Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay

Mughal Sarai (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 14 The Mughalsarai railway station of Uttar Pradesh has been renamed to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay railway station.

Mughalsarai is one of the most established and greatest railway intersections in the state. The renaming of the notable railway station was proposed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in August, and was affirmed by the Centre.

Jan Sangh pioneer Deen Dayal Upadhyaya was discovered dead in secretive conditions close Mughalsarai station on February 11, 1968.

In August, the Rajya Sabha saw hubbub over Center's endorsement for the same, as it was dismissed for 10 minutes after Samajwadi Party members went into the well of the House and yelled trademarks against the administration. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) members also registered their dissent on the issue.

Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agarwal requested that the House ought to completely wrangle on the issue before a no complaint endorsement is issued.

According to the central government rules, it is required for a state government to get a NOC from the Home Ministry for renaming railway stations, villages, towns and cities.
