Indian engineer awarded Scientific and Technical Oscar Award

Los Angeles [USA], Feb 16 Vikas Sathaye, a Pune-born person has been honoured with the Scientific and Engineering Academy Award at the Oscars Scientific and Technical Awards 2018 at Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, California last Saturday.

Sathaye and his team got the honor for his contribution towards conceptualisation, designing, engineering, and the usage of the 'Shotover K1 Camera System' amid his spell at Shotover Camera Systems in Queenstown, New Zealand.

The Shotover K1 Camera System is a camera mount that is used in aerial filming. The camera mount gets joined to the base of a helicopter, which conveys the camera and focal point.

The primary function of the camera mount is to wipe out any vibration from achieving the camera, hence guaranteeing a steady footage.

This innovative six-axis settled aerial camera mount, with its upgraded capacity to frame shots while looking straight down, enables greater creative freedom and results in clear, immovable photography and videography.

The group that built up the camera framework comprises of four members Sathaye, John Coyle, Brad Hurndell and Shane Buckham as the lead electrical and programming engineer.

Together, the technologists developed an elaborate system that decidedly affected the advancement of movies.

The Scientific and Engineering Award is given for scientific achievements that deliver a distinct effect on the headway of the movie business.
