Rahul Gandhi questions PM Modi 'silence' on PNB bank scam

New Delhi, Feb 19 Congress President Rahul Gandhi today terminated yet another salvo at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his "silence" on the multi-crore PNB bank fraud, asking where the "nation's watchman" was when goldsmith Nirav Modi fled the nation like alcohol baron Vijay Mallya.

Gandhi ripped into the PM for his hold back amid poll rallies that he would go act as a watchman for the nation, and refered to his "na khaoonga, na khaane doonga" (will neither do nor enable anybody to do corruption) statement.

Taking to Twitter, the Congress chief said the whole nation was quick to know the "secret behind his quiet" and alleged that it screams out noisily where his loyalties were.

"To start with Lalit (Modi) and afterward (Vijay) Mallya, now Nirav (Modi) also stole away. Where is the nation's guardian who asserted 'Na khaoonga, na khaane doonga' (Will neither do nor enable anybody to do defilement)? "The general population is aching to know the reason of 'Saheb's' hush. His hush shouts so anyone can hear who is he faithful to?" he asked in a tweet in Hindi.

Gandhi also used the hashtag "ModiRobsIndia" along with his tweet, to target the prime minister.

The Congress leader has been focusing on the PM and his government over the multi-crore bank scam and has blamed him for not taking any action despite being aware in the know of everything.

He had also affirmed that a scam of such huge proportion couldn't have occurred without the contribution of higher-ups.
