Shiv Sena claims ' Nirav Modi is BJP's accomplice'

Mumbai, Feb 17 The Shiv Sena on Saturday hammered the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for having connections with celebrity jeweller Nirav Modi, who is entangled in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) extortion case.

The party in its mouthpiece, Saamna, said Nirav Modi was seen in the events organised on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Davos visit.

"Nirav Modi is BJP's partner and he has also helped the party amid its races. Here farmers are conferring suicides as they are not able to complete their debt of Rs 100-Rs 500, however here individuals are departing suddenly with huge amount of money," the article read.

The article conluded that Mumbai's Chhagan Bhujbal and Patna's Lalu Prasad are behind the bars, but liquor baron Vijay Mallya and Neerav Modi are fleeing with lakhs and crores worth cash.

Prior on Friday, a FIR was enlisted against two Punjab National Bank (PNB) authorities over the misrepresentation with the bank.

In the interim, eight PNB workers were suspended around the same day.

The number of suspended workers now remains at 18, which also incorporates General Manager level officers. Inward investigation of the bank is as yet in progress.

Celebrity jeweller Nirav Modi and his business relate Mehul Choksi are entangled in the PNB misrepresentation case. While Nirav Modi possesses mark 'Nirav Modi', Choksi claims Gitanjali Gems.

The PNB has held up two monetary extortion objections of Rs. 11400 crore and Rs 280 crore against Nirav Modi, his relatives and Mehul Choksi.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recorded a formal case charging four, Nirav Modi, his wife Ami, sibling Nishal and Mehul Choksi on January 31 over Rs. 280 crore fraud.
