Supreme Court says: Action against those challenging between inter-caste marriage

New Delhi, Feb 16 In his submissions before the Supreme Court regarding instances of supposed honour killings by Khap Panchayats, Amicus Curiae Raju Ramachandran on Friday expressed that activity would be started against those involved in protesting a marriage between consenting adults.

The report, be that as it may, ceased from using the term 'Khap' and used 'assembly of persons' instead.

In a February 5 becoming aware of the issue, the apex court came down heavily on the Khap Panchayats, prompting them against taking the law into their own hands in the name of so-called honour killing.

Prior on January 16, the court also rapped the Center for neglecting to forestall assaults on couples who wedded into various position or confidence.

The three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra, stated, "If the Center does not act against Khap Panchayats, then the court will step in."

The apex court also watched that "no Khap Panchayat or society can question" the decision of an adult man and woman opting for an inter-caste marriage.
