Prime Minister Modi: India trusts in development but committed to environment

New Delhi, Feb 16 Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India trusts in development yet was committed to protecting the environment.

Addressing over 200 representatives at the World Sustainable Development Summit, the PM said regard for nature was a part of the nation's culture.

"We consider Earth our mom. India has faith in development but on the other hand is resolved to protect the environment," he said.

Conjuring Mahatma Gandhi, Modi stated, "We trust that all resources and wealth belongs to nature and the almighty and we are just the trustees or managers of this wealth."

Mahatma Gandhi, as well, upheld this trusteeship philosophy, he included.

Focusing on the requirement for making the planet more secure, the prime minister stated,

"We are proud with our long history and asserted of agreeable presence amongst man and nature."

The leader likewise raised worries about the issue of water accessibility and affirmed his sense of duty regarding guarantee that no homestead abandons water.

"We are working to electrify each family unit of the nation. With developing urbanisation, our vehicle needs are developing as well, we are growing the metro system also," he said.
