Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar joins Congress

Mumbai, Mar 27 Acclaimed actor Urmila Matondkar on Wednesday joined Congress in the presence of party chief Rahul Gandhi. She might be named as the party candidate from Bombay North.

Rahul invited Urmila to the party within the sight of Mumbai Congress president Milind Deora, party representative Priyanka Chaturvedi and Randeep Surjewala. The actor thanked them for the welcome. "I am grateful to Congress president Rahul ji for the warm welcome. Today is an important day since I am taking my first step in active politics. My identity and believing depends on Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel," she said. "I was dependably shown the estimations of opportunity, of our constitution and of our popular government. Today, there are such a large number of inquiries on the brains of people and it is for this that I have joined politics."

Urmila admitted that political parties may welcome Bollywood big names for their glamour and fan following however said that it isn't the situation with her. "It isn't mistaken to think on those lines yet given me a chance to guarantee everybody that I host joined Congress for what the gathering depend on and to serve my nation."

Deora thanked Urmila and talked exceptionally of her accomplishments. "I have known Urmila ji for years. She isn't only one of India's best artists but also someone who is extremely opinionated on what is happening in India currently," he said.
