Sonia Gandhi's nearby helper Tom Vadakkan joins BJP, lauds PM Narendra Modi's leadership

New Delhi, Mar 14 In a big setback for Rahul Gandhi-drove Congress party, its senior head Tom Vadakkan on Thursday joined the decision Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the pivotal Lok Sabha election 2019.

Vadakkan was formally inducted into the saffron party in the presence of Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and other best BJP leaders.

Not long after in the wake of joining BJP, Vadakkan assaulted his previous gathering for its ''dismal'' remain on the Pulwama fear assault and India's retaliatory strikes.

"I am deeply harmed when my party (Congress) of 20 years questioned the honesty of the military,'' Vadakkan said.

"I left the party with a heavy hearts. This is against the national interest and I have left the party on a sad note," Tom Vadakkan said in a brief press conference in the national capital.

"If some political group that takes a situation against the nation, at that point I don't have an alternative yet to leave that party… This isn't right," he stated, refering to the Congress' stance on the Balakot air strike against terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad camp in Pakistan that pursued the Pulwama suicide bombing.

Vadakkan also hammered the Congress party over its dynasty politics. He said that he was "hurt" at the situation inside the Congress where it was uncertain that who was the power centre.

While keeping up that the Congress' response to assaults did by Pakistan-based terrorists was sad, he said that he firmly believed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development narrative.

He also hailed the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and expressed gratitude toward him and the BJP chief Amit Shah for tolerating him in the saffron party fold.

''I want to thank the PM and the BJP president for accepting my essential membership of the party and wishing me good karma,'' he included.
