Prime Minister Narendra Modi urges supporters to take 'main bhi chowkidar' pledge

New Delhi, Mar 16 Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday urged his supporters to take the 'main bhai chowkidar' (I also am guard) pledge, saying he isn't the only one in the battle against graft and social evils.

"Your Chowkidar is standing firm and serving the country. Be that as it may, I am not the only one. Everybody who is battling corruption, soil, social evils is a Chowkidar. Everybody working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar," he wrote on Twitter.

He also posted a little over three minute video to commute home his message.

Modi has regularly depicted himself as a "chowkidar" who might neither permit debasement nor get corrupted himself.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been over and again throwing the "chowkidar chor hai"(watchman is the thief) jibe at Modi to claim irregularities and favouritism in the Rafale fighter jet deal, a charge the BJP-led government has rejected.
