Rahul: Congress will reestablish special category status to Arunachal and other NE states

Itanagar, Mar 19 Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said Tuesday his party will reestablish the special category status to Arunachal Pradesh and different states in the upper east whenever chose to control.

There are a some states in the nation which require special status in view of their "unique issues and troubles, for example, network, landscape, framework, Gandhi said at an election rally here

Amid the Congress rule at the Centre, he stated, Arunachal Pradesh and other NE states used to enjoy special category status.

Arunachal Pradesh has a special spot in the heart of the Congress gathering and "we might want to have a 'dil ka rishta' with the general population of the state", he said.

Gandhi said the Congress won't permit the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill to be passed in Rajya Sabha on the grounds that the bill is "hindering" to the people of the northeast.

"We won't permit the suppression of the people of northeast," Gandhi said.

The Congress party will never assault the language, culture, traditions and custom of Arunachal Pradesh and other NE states, he said.

Election to the 60-part Arunachal Pradesh Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats will be held on April 11.
