Enforcement Directorate captures defence agent in VVIP choppers case

New Delhi, Mar 26 The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has captured a defence agent from Delhi in the Rs 3,600-crore VVIP choppers deal case, authorities said Tuesday.

They said Sushen Mohan Gupta was captured late Monday by office sleuths under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Gupta, they stated, has supposedly managed in protection bargains, including the AgustaWestland helicopters deal.

He will be delivered under the steady gaze of an uncommon PMLA court here Tuesday.

Legal advisor Gautam Khaitan and asserted British mediator Christian Michel were prior captured by the ED for the situation.

The ED authorities said Gupta's job for the situation became visible based on revelations made by Rajiv Saxena, who has as of late turned approver for the situation after he was ousted from the UAE and captured by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here.

It is suspected that Gupta currently possesses some installment subtleties in the buy of VVIP choppers and the connection is to be disentangled, they said.

He has, consequently, been captured, they said.

On January 1, 2014, India scrapped the agreement with Finmeccanica's British auxiliary AgustaWestland for providing 12 AW-101 VVIP choppers to the Indian Air Force (IAF) over supposed break of legally binding commitments and charges of paying kickbacks to the tune of Rs 423 crore by it for securing the deal.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED have documented numerous charge sheets for the situation and named previous IAF boss S P Tyagi and his relatives as blamed other than others.
