Sharad Pawar not to battle Lok Sabha polls

Pune, Mar 11 NCP chief Sharad Pawar Monday said he has chosen not to challenge the following month's Lok Sabha decision from the Madha body electorate in Maharashtra.

The Madha seat is held by his party leader Vijaysingh Mohite Patil. Pawar's declaration at a question and answer session came after recent speculation that he may contest from there.

"There was a lot of insistence (from inside NCP) that I challenge from Madha. Be that as it may, my candidature hasn't been declared yet," Pawar said.

The NCP chief also demonstrated that Parth, child of his nephew and senior gathering pioneer Ajit Pawar, might be handled from Maval LS voting public in Pune area.

"Many people are asking (me) to field Parth from Maval," the previous Union minister said.

Asked if the fear of possible defeat made him reevaluate of contesting from Madha, Pawar stated, "I have successfully faced 14 elections.
