FIR against Kanhaiya Kumar, others over supposed altercation with AIIMS Patna doctors

A FIR has been registered by administration of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna against previous Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar over alleged altercation with junior doctors on Sunday evening.

As per news agency ANI, the FIR has been registered at Pulwari Sharif police station against Kahaiya Kumar, Bihar AISF boss Sushil Kumar and no less than 80 unidentified people.

The junior doctors had alleged that the altercation was triggered when Kanhaiya, alongside his supporters, attempted to enter the injury crisis unit. They were at first stopped by the watch on duty, who was allegedly manhandled.

Junior doctors who were on obligation inside the ward then tried to stop Kanhaiya's supporters from entering. This prompted a fight between the AISF supporters and junior doctors, who chose to quit working at 10 pm on Sunday.

After solicitations from the hospital administration, the doctors resumed their duty at night. However, all the junior doctors went on a strike at 11 am on Monday.

The fresh trouble for Kanhaiya Kumar comes in the midst of reports that he would challenge the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Begusarai in Bihar as a candidate of the Mahagathbandhan.

While Kanhaiya Kumar is formally anticipated that would challenge the decisions on a CPM ticket, he will be handled under the flag of Mahagathbandhan, as a joint hopeful.

Kanhaiya Kumar has already faced a sedition case. The JNU administration had also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him over the 2016 occasion in the grounds where affirmed enemies of India trademarks were raised and Parliament assault convict Afzal Guru was praised.

The fine on the former JNUSU president was imposed a high-level JNU panel after a thorough investigation in this regard.

However, the Delhi High Court in July set aside the move by the college administration, terming it as "illicit, silly and irregular". The High Court had requested that the college look out for the matter until the point that a legitimate choice was taken by the court. It had coordinated JNU to not make any move against Kumar regarding the rebellion argument enlisted against him.
