Rafale deal: Centre submits details of decision-making process in sealed cover to the Supreme Court

New Delhi Oct 27 The Centre on Saturday presented the points of interest of the decision-making process in a sealed cover to the Supreme Court, according to the apex court's direction.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi had sought details of the process that led to the deal which has now become engraved in a raging political battle. The top court had requested the subtle elements short the specialized procedures while setting Monday (October 29) as the date for hearing the case.

A three-bench judge headed by Chief Justice (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi alongside Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and KM Joseph is hearing the matter of a request of documented by ML Sharma. The petitioner has charged the government with corruption in the deal. The apex court however made it clear that it isn't considering charges made in the appeal. "We might want to be evaluated of the points of interest of the means in the basic leadership process in the Rafale Deal. No official notice. SC also clarifies that the Centre's response need not cover issue of pricing." the apex court had said.

Congress has tried to corner the government over the Rafale deal over the last several months and has questioned why the costs of the fighter jets were expanded and why the agreement to produce a portion of these planes in India were given to Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence and not to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Indian government and Dassault Aviation have both claimed that the Centre had no role in deciding who got the agreement to fabricate the planes in India. Congress president Rahul Gandhi has endeavored to keep the weight up and has even gone to the degree of calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having plundered the nation.
