Sensex, Nifty turn rough on mixed global cues

Mumbai, Oct 9 Benchmark indices turned choppy Tuesday as investors turned cautious amid mixed global cues.

The benchmark BSE Sensex opened 150 points higher on buying by domestic institutional speculators (DIIs) and rupee recuperation.

Similarly, NSE Nifty too turned choppy and was trading marginally down at 10,344.05.

DIIs remained buyers on the domestic bourses and bought shares worth a net of Rs 1,974 crore on Monday, while remote institutional speculators (FIIs) sold offers to the tune of Rs 1,805 crore, according to temporary information.

Tata Motors was the greatest loser on Sensex, falling 5 percent, after Tata Motors-claimed Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced 12.3 percent decrease in worldwide deals at 57,114 units in September, hit by lower request in China.

JLR also gets ready for a fourteen day shutdown of its West Midlands plant toward the finish of October to adapt to cope with weakening global demand for its luxury vehicles.

Other major losers were Asian Paints, Wipro, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Kotak Bank shedding up to 1.92 percent.

Top gainers incorporate Yes Bank, Coal India, HDFC, Adani Ports, L&T, Hero MotoCorp, TCS, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, HDFC Bank, HUL, IndsuInd Bank, Vedanta, PowerGrid, RIL and ONGC, ascending to 4.60 percent.

In sectoral terms, bank, auto, FMCG and IT files fell up to 1 percent.

Internationally, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 0.48 percent, Shanghai's Composite rose 0.49 percent and Taiwan up 0.18 percent in their initial session. Japan's Nikkei, be that as it may, was down 0.92 percent.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended higher in Monday's exchange.
