NCW personally speaking #MeToo survivors, accumulates points of details on claims

New Delhi Oct 9, In view of hundreds of sexual harassment survivors joining the #MeToo movement on social media, the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday said that it is connecting with survivors and taking points of interest of the objections.

"National Commission for Women (NCW) is in the advancement of social occasion point by point data of different lewd behavior charges that have become known in media. We are also expressly connecting with the survivors by means of phone," NCW said in a statement.

The statutory body also said that it will give an official statement on the movement on Wednesday.

The movement that began after actor Tanushree Dutta spoke against Nana Patekar gained steam after a several women from all walks of life started speaking about the instances of sexual harassment that they have faced. Several senior media professionals have also been called out.

Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs MJ Akbar, who has been a veteran journalist, has also been blamed for badgering by his associates amid his news coverage days.

While Union Minister Maneka Gandhi has respected the development, Minister of External Affairs did not remark on inquiries on #MeToo claims against Akbar. Whenever inquired as to whether any move will be made against Akbar, Swaraj avoided the inquiry.

"There are not kidding allegations...these are inappropriate behaviour claims. You are a lady serve in control. Will there be a test on the claims?" columnists can be heard asking in the video while Swaraj can be seen quietly leaving.

In October a year ago, writer Priya Ramani had portrayed her difficulty about the sexual unfortunate behaviour she looked amid a prospective employee meet-up with an eminent journalist who had "changed Indian news coverage." Recently, Ramani asserted that the journalist she was alluding to was MJ Akbar. She is among a few other ladies writers who have leveled comparative charges against Akbar.
