Supreme Court sends 3 directors of Amrapali group to police custody

New Delhi, Oct 9 The Supreme Court Tuesday sent three chiefs of the Amrapali group to police custody, directing them to hand over all the documents of the 46 group companies to forensic auditors.

A bench of Justices Arun Mishra and U Lalit protested the Amprapali group not giving over every one of the reports to scientific examiners and said that they will remain in police care till they hand over every one of the archives.

The three chiefs are - Anil Kumar Sharma, Shiv Priya and Ajay Kumar.

The apex court's order came ahead a group of petitions filed by home buyers who are seeking possession of around 42,000 flats.

The court said the conduct of the directors was in "gross violation" of its order.

"You are playing hide and seek. You are attempting to deceive the court," the seat said.

It directed the Delhi police to seize all the documents of the Amrapali group and hand them over to forensic auditors, accentuating that not a single document of these companies should remain in custody of the group.

The top court had before permitted National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC) to coast tenders for choosing the manufacturer to finish the slowed down tasks of Amrapali Group and requesting that it set up an itemized venture report for pending activities inside 60 days.

On September 12, the peak court had named NBCC to develop stalled projects of the realty firm and guided the Debts Recovery Tribunal to offer the unrestricted business properties of the group.

It had also coordinated the opening of an escrow account in the apex court in which the sum got after the offer of properties would be stored and later dispensed to the NBCC to start construction of the pending projects in Group A and B Categories.

Also, it coordinated that financial balances, accounting reports and different records of all the 46 Amrapali organizations and Jotindra Steel, since 2008 be given to the forensic auditors.

The apex court had on September 6 distinguished 16 properties of Amrapali for selling, ideally by the NBCC, to give the PSU an underlying corpus to begin deal with the slowed down ventures.
