Police: Jignesh Mevani's ask for Delhi rally not conceded up until this point

New Delhi, Jan 8 The Delhi Police today said that Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani's ask for holding a rally here tomorrow on Parliament Street has not been conceded yet.

The police had before said that Mevani's ask for was "under thought".

"No consent conceded so far by Delhi Police to hold proposed challenge at Parliament Street in perspective of NGT orders.

Coordinators have been always encouraged to go to interchange site, which they are hesitant to acknowledge," the workplace of Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, tweeted today around evening time.

In any case, the coordinators have affirmed that they would proceed with their plan.

The 'Social Justice' rally or 'Yuva Hunkaar Rally' is planned to be addressed by Mevani alongside Assam worker pioneer Akhil Gogoi.

The NGT on October 5 a year ago had requested authorities to "instantly stop all exercises of dharna, dissent, disturbances, gathering of individuals, open talks and using of uproarious speakers among others at the Jantar Mantar Road."

One of the coordinators and previous JNU Students' Union president Mohit Kumar Pandey stated, "There has been a considerable measure of endeavors to stop this occasion and even a few media houses are spreading incorrectly data that the consent for the rally has been denied."

As far back as the rally was announced on January 2, "a lot of money has been spent on publications calling Mevani a deshdrohi (backstabber) and urban naxal," Pandey told, including the occasion will be held according to plan.

Mevani couldn't be gone after his remarks.

In a statement, the organisers have encouraged the forthcoming members to "gather on the Parliament Street at 12 pm on tomorrow".

The rally tries to raise the interest for the arrival of Dalit equip Bhim Army's founder Chandrashekhar Azad and underscore on issues like educational rights, business, work and gender justice.

A large section of students from universities and schools in Delhi, ladies' groups, teachers' associations and activists related with Mevani from the nation over are relied upon to go to the rally.

Azad, 30, was captured in June a year ago from Himachal Pradesh as he was the fundamental charged in the Thakur-Dalit conflict in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district.
