BJD requests Baijayant Panda to resign as MP

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) Jan 27 The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday demanded the resignation of suspended Lok Sabha MP Baijayant Panda.

The party looked for his resignation from the Lok Sabha on the ground that Panda supposedly had not disclosed that he was drawing a pay as the vice-chairman of a mining organization - Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA).

Conversing with, BJD representative Sasmit Patra stated, "As the Vice Chairman of IMFA, he has been drawing a salary but it didn't reflect in his race affirmation. It is an issue of good trustworthiness and the BJD specialists from Kendrapara requested that he ought to leave from the post of a MP."

On January 24, BJD President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had suspended Panda from the essential enrollment of the gathering with prompt impact for 'against party exercises '.

Patnaik said that Panda's lead amid the Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRI) races was absolutely against the interests of the BJD and its functionaries who have been in charge of sending him to the Parliament four times.
