Youth succumbed to injuries, toll in Shopian firing ascensions to 3

Srinagar, Jan 31 The loss of life in the asserted Army firing on a mob in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir today rose to three after a critically harmed youth succumbed to injuries.

Rayees Ahmad, who was among the nine people harmed in the Army firing last week, succumbed to injuries at a hospital here toward the beginning of today, police said.

With this, loss of life in the terminating occurrence at Ganovpora zone of Shopian has ascended to three.

The Army opened fire on a stone-pelting crowd on January 27. The Army asserted it had opened fire in self protection after seven of its personnel were harmed.

The state government has ordered an authoritative test into the incident.

Police filed a FIR under sections 302 (kill) and 307 (attempt to kill) against Army work force, including a Major, involved in the incident.
